Our Global Learning and Development Manager at Theta Partners is Jason Linney, who brings over 17 years’ experience as an Learning and Development professional to his work with us. His focus is not only on delivering valuable training that impacts the bottom line but doing so in a way that lets you enjoy the process.

In-house training programme
Our recruitment consultants benefit from a comprehensive onboarding programme for all new employees. This is a 3 week programme consisting of a mix of classroom theory and role play work. This gives you a chance to practice and get used to your role in a safe environment. You won’t be talking to clients on the phone until you’re ready for action and fully trained.
Our programme is designed around a number of core modules, developed in conjunction with one of the leading consultancies in recruitment training and development in the United Kingdom as well as some in-depth courses specific to the life science industry.
Our training materials are constantly kept up to date to reflect the changeable nature of the industry as well as advances in recruitment methodology. The training modules include business development, hiring and interview skills, client relationship management and social recruiting.
Informal colleague and manager training
Every new associate will be assigned one of our more senior consultants or managers as a mentor. We’ve found that providing continuous support right from the start can be crucial to our associates making quick progress, from learning the business systems we use to the working culture and our clients.
We foster an open and honest environment where everyone is encouraged to communicate freely, for the benefit of both the individual and the company.
We work together with our associates to identify opportunities to up-skill them via external courses. In particular we focus on seminars and workshops that cover topics specific to the technology industry that couldn’t be facilitated by in-house training sessions.
Often members of our marketing or finance team select this option as the level of expertise needed to deliver meaningful courses is best provided by an external provider.
We have a formal programme in place that focuses specifically on the development of leadership and management skills. The structure of this programme is deliberately flexible to accommodate different levels but typically consists of:
- Internal modules delivered by our internal Head of L&D and member of the SMT
- External courses designed to develop knowledge of various aspects of management theory
Where feasible we support any of our employees in their pursuit of a professional qualification if it’s relevant to their job. Cases are judged on their own individual merits.
